New System:
The only exception to these class names will be Acrobatics, Aerial and Pointe, which for safety reasons are strictly defined by skill level, not age.

Why 1st January? To align with eisteddfod age groups, to make scheduling around our Team rehearsals possible.
Age groups may be split subject to class sizes.
Classical Ballet
Tots and Tinies Ballet classes are a fun, play based introduction to classical ballet, in a setting that inspires their love for Ballet whilst giving them the foundations to progress to Mini Ballet.
Minis to Open ballet class in 2025 will study the Vaganova (Russian) or Comdance (Vocational) Ballet examination syllabus (depending on their age). Teachers have a wonderful plan in place to ensure dancers study the correct level as we transition to our new syllabus!
Pointe
Pre Pointe and 2 levels of Pointe will be available to dancers who reach the minimum technical development required for this class. These class levels are strictly skills based, not age defined for safety. Dancers aspiring to commencing pointe in 2025 must meet a number of conditions including (but not limited to);
- Attending at least 2 ballet classes per week
- Minimum age 11 years, subject to their physical development
- A solid technical foundation and passing a pre-pointe assessment with the Director or Pre-Pointe teacher
- The required strength and range of movement in the body
- Excellent attendance rates to the Pre-Pointe Class
- Approval from the dancer's pre-pointe teacher
Dancers may also at times be sent to a physio for assessment
Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop
These classes are paced according to the age group. Jazz classes in 2025 for Minis and above will learn the new Comdance Syllabus which was only recently re choreographed and has more modern choreography and content for the dancers.
Tap
In 2025, Tap classes will follow the newly rechoreographed and updated Comdance syllabus, to extend the dancer's tapping abilities and joy for Tap!
Contemporary:
Dancers in Pre-Junior and Above can begin to explore 'breaking the rules' of classical lines in the free and expressive contemporary classes which introduce new ways of moving.
Commercial *NEW IN 2025*
A new class offered by the Director in 2025, Miss Mia's blend of jazz, contemporary, lyrical, body conditioning, floor skills, kicks, turns and jumps. This class is ideal for dancers in 12 yrs, 15yrs and Opens Teams, to best teach them the skills needed to shine at competitions and extend their personal abilities. (But anyone can join!)
Acro
Acrobatics is a wonderful dance based gymnastics which teaches dancers fun and exciting skills. For safety, these classes are strictly skills based, not age defined.
Aerial
Suspend, swing and contort with these fun Lyra (hoop) classes for dancers in Junior and above. For safety, dancers are required to be at least Level 3 Acro to progress to Aerial classes.
Musical Theatre
Explore a range of dance and theatre skills inspired by popular broadway shows and musical movies.
Teams
Dancers in Minis and above who attend at least two classes each week can join our Eisteddfod Teams.
From 2025 Radiance Students will be transitioned to COMDANCE and Ballet Conservatoire (Vaganova) examinations.
Why the syllabus transition? To offer more up-to-date and industry relevant content available.
The most wonderful part of this transition is that these Syllabi allow dancers to transition across directly to the level they are up to!
Eg. "Silver Medal Ballet" will transition to "Level 3 Ballet"
Dancers in Grade 5 at school and above who wishing to extend their training to more advanced and pre-professional content are supported to study Ballet Conservatoire’s Incredible VAGANOVA syllabus offered at Toowoomba Ballet College. This program replaces the 2024 Excellence and Cert programs.
In 2025 dancers who join the Radiance Team will compete in their normal age group AND parts of the age group above them, to advanced their training and get more time on stage.
To be a part of the Radiance Team, you must regularly attend at least TWO non-team classes per week in any style. Teams will have a range of routine styles, and while all dancers will learn all the routines, Miss Mia will determine which dancers will compete in each routine to ensure that the dancers feel confident in their abilities.
Some styles are quite specific (eg. Ballet and Tap) and dancers in these styles must take classes in this style to perform in these routines. Styles such as lyrical, contemporary, jazz and hip hop are more inclusive and do not have class style requirements.
The number and styles of routines will vary slightly each year depending on the dancers within the age group at the time and the artistic direction of the teachers.

We understand managing a family who do lots of extra curricular is a full time job in itself!
Sometimes life happens and we lose track of deadlines, forms due and payments due. From 2025, all the information you need will be consolidated into one easy platform, easily navigated on a device from anywhere, at any time.
From 2025, in mind of child safety practises, specific schedules and class information will no longer be accessed via the public radiance website.
Instead, parents can easily refer to the App to message the studio and access concert, examination and teams information.
PAYMENTS AND REGISTRATIONS
Registrations and Payments will continue to be processed through our DSP portal (this is where you register and pay for tuition etc).
ABSENCES
Did you know you can also log student absences in your DSP Portal? When an absence is logged, then we are able to schedule a makeup class in the system for you!
Miss Mia is thrilled to be working alongside AUSDANCE in 2025, as a pilot studio for their new Safedance for Kids program.
This new child safety education program to be delivered in dance studios over six engaging module to 8-10 years, grounded in First Nations Cultural safety, teaches child safety to children, addressing mental health, physical, nutritional, social, and online safety.
