2025 eisteddfod teams

JOINING RADIANCE TEAMS IS A FANTASTIC WAY TO GET ON STAGE MORE AND INTEGRATE INTO THE LOCAL DANCE COMMUNITY!

To be a part of the Radiance Team, you must regularly attend at least TWO non-team classes per week in any style.

Teams will have a range of routine styles, and while all dancers will learn all the routines, Miss Mia will determine which dancers will compete in each routine to ensure that the dancers feel confident in their abilities.

The number and styles of routines will vary slightly each year depending on the dancers within the age group at the time and the artistic direction of the teachers.

Some styles are quite specific (eg. Ballet and Tap) and dancers in these styles must take classes in this style to perform in these routines.

Styles such as lyrical, contemporary, jazz and hip hop are more inclusive and do not have strict class style requirements.

What age groups will I compete in?

In 2025, dancers who join the Radiance Team will compete in their normal age group AND attend the age group above as well.

This extra chance to dance is amazing to advance their training, learn more routines, get more value for their Teams experience, and get more time on stage.

By joining the age group above, the dancers have the opportunity to start learning parts of the routines so that when they are at the top of their next age group, they are ready to lead the team and the age group coming up below them! It is an amazing way to see all the dancers represented as one united Team and develop a sense of achievement as they work up the ranks of the age groups!

Ages below are as per 1st January (see competition rules below)

COMPETITION RULES:

Age groups at competitions are the age specified "and under." They are strictly determined as of 1st January of the year you are competing in.

eg. If you are 10 years old on 1st Jan 2025, even if you have turned 11 by the time you actually compete, your 'Eisteddfod age' is 10, and may compete in the 10 years and under teams. You can also compete 'up' an age group.

What events will teams do in 2025?

In 2025, Radiance Teams are planned to perform and compete at the following events (these events are subject to change);

* Border District Eisteddfod (Stanthorpe)

Darling Downs Eisteddfod (Millmerran)

Radiance High Tea (Mid year showcase announcing the End of Year production!)

City of Toowoomba Eisteddfod (The Empire)

* Dance 4350 (Gatton Shire Hall)

Lockyer District Dancing Festival (Gatton Shire Hall)

Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers (Street parade)

Radiance 2025 End of Year Concert (TBA at the High Tea)

*By enrolling in Team for 2025, dancers are expected to commit to the entire season of competitions indicated by the asterisks.

Exact dates vary each year for these events and will be shared to families as soon as they are released by the competitions.

2025 Team Fees

Minis/Pre Juniors: $550/Season

Juniors/Pre Teens: $650/Season

Teens/Opens: $750/Season

Team Fees are per dancer, for the 2025 season, regardless of the number of age groups and/or routines they compete in. Team Fees include all competition rehearsals, entries, and costume hire. Fees do not include personal items (eg. shoes and tights etc)

Team Fees will be paid in TWO equal instalments in Term 1 and 2.

Refunds are not given to dancers who withdraw from the Team before the end of the Season, as this actually creates more work for the team, setting us back as we then have to re-space and re-choreograph the routines accordingly.

We encourage families to have dancers see the season out before withdrawing to pursue other activities, to teach the importance of teamwork and camaraderie, and working together towards a common goal.

Dancers who are in year 12 at high school are expected to manage their time appropriately if they sign up to be a part of the Radiance Team, and are expected to commit to all events.

Dance is a fantastic way to support teen's emotional and physical wellbeing during these final years of schooling, and create a wonderful outlet and release during these times. Time management is an important skill to learn as we develop into young adults.

What do I need for teams?

Dancers are to wear their uniform leotard (see 2025 Uniforms) and may wear PLAIN BLACK shoes or leggings only. In cooler months Radiance Jackets may be worn. Hair must be tied up neatly for all classes.

*Ballet Routines:  Ballet Flats or Pointes (if en Pointe)

Jazz Routines: BLACK Jazz shoes

*Tap Routines: Tan Tap Shoes (12 years+ should wear cuban heels)

Lyrical/Contemporary Routines: Half/Turning Shoes

Hip Hop Routines: Dancers may wear Jazz Shoes for classes, however will require specific shoes for performances. These requirements will be advised.

Specific tights and shoe requirements are notified to the dancers closer to our first event of the year.

OTHER CONDITIONS

Dancers who do not attend general ballet or tap classes are not permitted to perform in the Ballet or Tap routines, however they can participate during the rehearsal classes.

Dancers must enrol in, and regularly attend at least two non-team classes per week to be eligible for teams.

Dancers may not necessarily appear in all routines. Placement in routines will be at the discretion of teachers and is subject to individual abilities and attendance rates.

By enrolling in Radiance Teams families agree;

- to commit to all events for the year,

- that dancers may not be placed in all routines if they are not technically ready, or if satisfactory and consistent attendance is not demonstrated during rehearsals,

- to acquire the required items for performances (shoes, tights etc)

- to demonstrate positive sportsmanship and behaviour at rehearsals and events,

- that all creative decisions including spacing, costuming, musical choices, concepts and placements is entirely at the discretion of the teachers and no discussion will be entered into regarding these.
